Bhavan’s Pune Kendra has emerged as a leading educational and cultural institution in Pune. The Pune Kendra has been conducting Annual Educational Conferences for the past seven years to discuss and deliberate on various important issues related to education viz. “Right to Free and Compulsory Education”, “Professional Ethics for Teachers” “Positive Parenting”, ‘Assessment and Evaluation of students and Quality of Education’, ‘Value Education’. ‘Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Education’ “Educational Psychology of Children, Parents and Teachers” and “The New National Educational Policy and its impact on the educational institutions viz. pre primary, primary and secondary schools”

This years 9th Annual Educational Conference is on the subject “ Growing Indiscipline amongst Students and Preventive Measures” on Saturday, 20th January 2018, which is open to all educationist, teachers and Heads of various Schools in and around Pune.

 

BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN-INFOSYS FOUNDATION – CULTURAL OUTREACH PROGRAMME

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai/ Bangalore and Infosys Foundation, Bangalore, have recently entered into an Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) to promote cultural activities in all its varied forms. Infosys Foundation has given a total grant of Rs. 7.25 crores to carry out Cultural Outreach Programmes through 11 Kendras of Bhavan, on regular basis.

We are proud to state that they have selected Pune Kendra in Maharashtra to conduct various state specific cultural programmes viz. folk dance and folk music etc. Infosys Foundation has given Rs.75/- lakhs in the form of deposit for Pune Kendra to carry out this programme. The interest accrued will be spent on minimum two Cultural Outreach programmes every month. Till end of December 2016, we have conducted in all Thirty five cultural and musical programmes.

All these programmes evoked excellent response from the public at large.

 

Bharatiya Vidya Bhvan- Adv. D.R. Nagarkar Foundation joint Awards –

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pune Kendra and Advocate D.R. Nagarkar Foundation has instituted a joint award for recognizing the outstanding contribution of eminent personalities in the various fields viz. social work, drama, music, arts, theatre, sports and literature etc. by rotation. Generally, this award is given in the month of October, the birth anniversary of late Adv. Dr. R. Nagarkar, for the last 18 years.

It consist of cash prize, memento and a citation. The recipients of this joint award till 2015 were Dr. Arun Nigavekar, former Vice Chancellor, University of Pune (UoP) and former Chairman of University of Grants Commission (UGC) , renowned social activists Smt. Nirmala Sovani, renowned Marathi theatre personality Shri. Chandrakant Gokhale, eminent sports coach and organizer Shri. Haribhau Sane, Senior research scholar in literature Dr. P.N. Joshi, renowned economist Dr. Nilkanth Rath, Social activist in the field blind men Shri. Tukaram Bamhankar, Marathi literature research scholar Dr. Ramchandra Chintaman Dhere, renowned Artist Dr. R.V. alias Babasaheb Pathak, National tennis player Shri. Nandan Bal, senior linguist and researcher Dr. Ashok Kelkar, founder of Apale Ghar, a home for orphaned, Shri. Vijay Phalanikar, Veteran Marathi natya sangeet stage artist Smt. Jaymala Shiledar, and eminent public prosecutor Advocate Ujwal Nikam.

Recently Adv. D.R. Nagarkar Foundation approached Bhavan with a request to discontinue these awards hereafter. However, in the year 2016, an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- was donated to the Chief Minister’s Jal Shivar Yojana, instead of Award.

The Foundation and Pune Kendra have now undertaken a joint project of conducting short term skill development courses from June 2018. These course will be of 3 to 6 months or one year duration and will give opportunity to students who have passed 12th Standard examinations to become self employed. Courses like Mobile Repairing, Accounts Writing, Retail Salesmanship, etc.

 

Avartan Gurukul - BVB joint programme:

Avartan Gurukul” is set up in Pune to impart very high level education to talented students from across the world in the field of Indian Classical Music and Dance. What makes it even more noteworthy is that the education is being offered completely free of charge. Avartan is blessed with the legendary Gurus on its panel to offer training which include Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar (Mentor & Pakhavaj), Pt.Ulhas Kashalkar (Hindustani Vocal), Dr. Sucheta Chapekar (Bharat Natyam), Vidushi Shama Bhate (Kathak) and Pt. Ramdas Palsule (Tabla).

Avartan has approached Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to join hands with them in this programme. It would be a unique contribution of Pune Kendra in this unique Gurukul Avartan programme. The discussions are in advance stage and MoU is likely to be signed very shortly.
