Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service etc. examinations have been recognised as the most prestigious services in the country and there are many aspirants for the same. The importance of such All India Level Services cannot be over-emphasised since they constitute the foundation on which the entire administration of the country rests and it is here that policies affecting the entire nation are evolved and shaped. These services also offer a tremendous scope not only for self development but also for being of real service to the nation.
It is necessary that the young graduates should be given full information about these examinations, motivated to appear for them and thus to ensure a bright career for them. It is also necessary that they should be given proper training in different subjects prescribed for these examinations and in the interview which forms a very important part of these examinations.
The D.R. Nagarkar Institute of Training For Competitive Examinations, started in the year 1984, aims at fulfilling this need of the young generation. The Institute is so named because of the munificent donation by Advocate Shri. D.R. Nagarkar of the D.R. Nagarkar Foundation. The Institute offers the necessary academic support and guidance to the students desirous of appearing for the various competitive examinations . The members of the faculty of the Institute include senior professors and experienced persons who had passed these competitive examinations and occupied responsible positions in All India Services.
The Advisory Board of the Institute consists of eminent persons from the I.A.S. Cadre and the academic field.
The Institute conducts regular courses for the preliminary examination and the main examination in three terms as follows : July to November – 1st Term, December to April – 2nd Term and June to October of the next year – 3rd Term. The timings of the classess are from 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on every working day.
The Institute has been able to build up an excellent library containing a number of books and other material very useful for the candidates preparing for the competitive examinations. In addition , some reputed colleges in the city have agreed to provide library facilities to these students.
The Institute has completed 15 years of its fruitful existence and a large number of students have been benefited so far.
